How you can get involved to support our Veterans

Here at Matlen Silver, we are very proud to support our nation’s heroes. You may have even recently seen our blog post offering you some tips for supporting Veterans in your workplace.
With Veterans Day approaching, we wanted to share some information about how the Matlen Silver team is stepping up, with hopes that it will inspire you to become more involved in actively supporting the Veterans in your community.

How we’re getting more involved this year

First off, we are happy to be collecting donations for Treats for Troops at all of our offices this year! This is such an important initiative that helps send special treats, personal items and other surprises to our troops.
Next, we are SO excited to serve as a sponsor this year for Carolina’s Veterans Day Celebration. We are very active throughout the year with Veterans Bridge Home, an organization that supports Veterans in our community. And at this very important time of year, it’s a huge honor to become involved with this event.
Although we cannot celebrate and honor our Veterans in person this year, the agenda for this virtual event is packed. From insights from Keynote Speaker and Medal of Honor Recipient SSG David Bellavia, U.S. Army (retired) to a live auction, silent auction (with AMAZING prizes from the Carolina Panthers, NASCAR and more!) and so much more, we hope that you will attend and join us in supporting our troops and Veterans (anyone can attend, wherever you’re located!).

How you can get involved

We know that there are a lot of things vying for your attention right now. But if your business is eager and able to become more involved in supporting our nation’s heroes, here are some simple ways you can take action:

Partner with local Veterans’ organizations

Every major city and many rural areas have local organizations that support Veterans in your local communities. From a monetary donation, to volunteering, sponsorships and more, there are so many ways you and your team can get involved. A quick phone call or email is all it takes to see what you can do to help. To find an organization in your area, start with a simple Google search for “[YOUR AREA] Veterans organization.”

Actively recruit and support Veterans joining the civilian workforce

We shared a link to our recent blog post earlier in this blog, but it bears repeating: Nearly every organization can take small or large steps to better attract, recruit and support Veterans as they seek to join the civilian workforce. From simple changes to your job postings to more robust Veterans initiatives, there is so much opportunity for you to make a difference!

Support the events mentioned above

If you want to do something right now to make a difference, consider “attending” Carolina’s Veterans Day Celebration, bidding on one of the auction items, or otherwise getting involved with this wonderful event, and organization in Veterans Bridge Home. From Treats for Troops to some of the other wonderful initiatives led by Soldiers’ Angels, there are many other ways you can get involved to support our Veterans and some wonderful organizations. No act is too small — everything makes a difference!

We are proud to support our Nation’s Heroes.

All of us here at Matlen Silver are proud to support these wonderful initiatives, and to honor our Veterans, not only on Veterans Day, but throughout the year. If you’re a Veteran looking for a job in IT, we invite you to search our open jobs, or to contact our team. If you’re an organization that wants to expand its hiring programs for Veterans, we can help! Contact us to learn more.
